Droidcon Kenya Tickets Start at KES 5,000. Is the KES 10,000 Pass Worth It?
Droidcon and Fluttercon Kenya run 5–6 November in Nairobi. Compare KES 5,000, 7,500 and 10,000 passes, Beyond Stacks access and refund terms before paying.
The key points of this analysis, checked by the editors.
One ticket covers Droidcon and Fluttercon Kenya on 5–6 November, but Beyond Stacks access depends on the pass.
Official prices show KES 5,000 for Normal, KES 7,500 for Beyond Stacks only and KES 10,000 for full access.
Refund wording needs clarification this close to the event; travel, accommodation and international payment costs are separate.
With Droidcon Kenya and Fluttercon Kenya taking place on 5–6 November 2026, developers have just days to decide whether a conference ticket belongs in their learning budget. The organisers promise two conferences with one ticket at PrideInn Azure Hotel in Nairobi. But a KES 5,000 Normal Pass and a KES 10,000 Full Conference Pass are not equivalent. For an engineer paying out of pocket, the difference is meaningful only if the additional track answers a real problem in their work.
Two conferences, one venue, different engineering questions
The Droidcon Kenya website confirms the dates and venue in Westlands. Android and Kotlin developers will find the native-mobile focus of Droidcon, while Fluttercon Kenya covers Flutter and Dart. The combined format gives engineers a chance to compare platform-specific performance and cross-platform delivery without buying separate tickets.
This year's shared theme, Beyond Stacks, also recognises that mobile engineers work across backend APIs, cloud services, security, AI agents and product constraints. A developer building a payment app for Kenyan merchants, for instance, cannot solve an unreliable checkout simply by polishing a Flutter screen. The backend's transaction state, retry logic and network conditions matter just as much.
The ticket maths: what changes between KES 5,000 and KES 10,000?
According to the official ticket store, the KES 5,000 Normal Pass includes both main conferences, the two developer days, advertised meals and refreshments, workshops and a swag package. The KES 10,000 Full Conference Pass adds the Beyond Stacks track. There is also a KES 7,500 Beyond Stacks-only pass for attendees interested in that track rather than the full Android and Flutter programme.
This is not a simple ranking from cheap to premium. The KES 7,500 ticket may be the wrong purchase for someone primarily interested in Kotlin sessions, while the KES 5,000 pass may be insufficient for an engineer whose main reason to attend is the shared agentic-engineering track. The Beyond Stacks programme includes discussions on on-device AI inference, native-versus-Flutter architecture and coding agents used in planning, building, reviewing and verifying applications.
The extra KES 5,000 for full access makes sense only if you will attend sessions that the normal ticket does not include. Otherwise, the difference could be better spent on transport, a technical book or data for a project you actually finish.
Which sessions can change how you build software?
Developers should look beyond the speaker names and ask what problem a session helps them solve. On-device AI inference is relevant when a product must work with limited connectivity or when sending every user interaction to a cloud model is expensive. A Flutter-to-native Android architecture comparison can expose trade-offs in performance, maintainability and platform integration. Sessions on coding agents should be judged by their testing and review methods, not by how quickly a demo generates code.
The programme explicitly prioritises practical formats, including workshops and live demonstrations. It also says that some talks and panels will be recorded, whereas workshops and open discussions are in-room experiences. Buying a ticket with the intention of watching every session later would therefore be a poor assumption.
A useful conference plan is measurable: pick two sessions that address bugs you have already seen, prepare questions, and identify one change you will implement in a project afterwards. For example, a developer struggling with offline order synchronisation could return with a clearer caching strategy and tests for duplicate submissions. That is a professional outcome; collecting badges alone is not.
Refunds, payments and the cost of travelling
The Normal Pass checkout page refers to refunds within ten days of purchase and 40 days before the conference. With the event only three days away, that wording should not be read as a promise of a last-minute refund. Anyone whose travel plans are uncertain should request written clarification from the organiser before paying.
The displayed ticket prices are in Kenyan shillings. International card conversion fees, bank charges, flights, accommodation and local transport are not included in the ticket figures. Entry requirements vary by nationality and must be checked with official Kenyan immigration information; we have not verified any individual's eligibility or entry permission. We also have not completed a purchase, so the available checkout methods and live inventory have not been independently tested.
The organisers list a hoodie-related ticket variant whose description references 2025. Treat merchandise details as something to confirm, rather than assuming the item will carry the 2026 design.
A decision framework for East African and visiting developers
If you live in Nairobi and already build Android or Flutter applications, the Normal Pass offers a comparatively direct way to access two days of specialised conversations. If you work mainly in backend, cloud or AI engineering, the full pass may be more relevant because it includes Beyond Stacks. If you are travelling from Kampala, Accra or Douala, compare the entire trip cost with what you could learn remotely or build independently.
There is no guaranteed job, certification or contract attached to attendance. What you can control is your preparation: bring a small, documented project; identify speakers whose work overlaps with yours; ask for concrete implementation advice; and write down what you will test when you return. The conference becomes valuable when it changes your engineering decisions.
Checked on 2 November 2026: the event is scheduled for 5–6 November at PrideInn Azure Hotel, Nairobi. Official advertised ticket tiers include KES 5,000, KES 7,500 and KES 10,000. We have not purchased a ticket, tested checkout, verified live inventory or obtained a refund-policy clarification. Recheck the official ticket store before paying.
Frequently asked questions
Does the KES 5,000 pass include both conferences?
Yes, the organisers say it covers Droidcon and Fluttercon main conference access. The additional Beyond Stacks track requires a different pass.
Can I get a last-minute refund?
Do not assume so. The ticket page mentions refund conditions involving 40 days before the event. Ask the organisers for written confirmation.
