FC 27 launches on September 25, though Ultimate Edition players have had early access since September 18. First impressions are already circulating. For anyone about to buy, the useful question is simpler: what has actually changed, and which edition earns its price?
EA highlights revised manual defending, more fluid passing, new attacking options and dynamic corners. The new social mode, The Grounds, is another addition, with a significant platform distinction: it is unavailable on PS4 and Xbox One. Those gameplay claims come from the publisher. Standard or Ultimate: what are you paying for?
Standard Edition provides the full game and its core modes at the worldwide launch on September 25. Ultimate adds early access, FC Points delivered over several months and extras for Ultimate Team and Career. If you mostly play matches with friends or take your time in Career, inspect those extras individually before paying more. An included benefit only has value if you will use it. EA lists a starting price of $69.99 on EA app, with possible taxes. That is not a guaranteed price in CFA francs: your account region, storefront and payment method may affect what you actually pay in Cameroon. The purchase price is also separate from any budget you choose to spend afterward. Steam lists optional purchases of virtual currency. That extra spend can be zero if you never buy it, or it can become the most expensive part of your season. Steam listing.
On PC, minimum specifications are not benchmarks
Steam lists a Ryzen 5 1600 or Core i5-6600K, RX 570 or GTX 1050 Ti, 8 GB of RAM and 100 GB of available storage as minimum requirements. Its recommended configuration includes an RX 5600 XT or GTX 1660 and 12 GB of RAM. These are published requirements, not independently measured frame rates. Check the PC requirements.
EA also announces new Performance and Balanced graphics presets and additional settings for more powerful PCs. A useful benchmark should state the graphics card, processor, resolution, settings and frames per second. Try it before paying full price
Two options have been announced. Steam lists an EA Play trial of up to 10 hours, which requires the applicable subscription. EA also says FC 27 Lite, a free download with selected modes including Kick-Off, will become available on September 25 at 16:00 UTC for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, EA app, Steam and Epic Games Store. Launch day will not produce one verdict for everyone. It will give us better questions: does ball control feel different in actual matches? Does manual defending make play more rewarding or more frustrating? How smoothly does the game run on a specific PC? And after trying it, which edition fits the way you play? Those answers are worth more than cover art or a preorder bonus.
